In recent years, the popularity of kratom has increased worldwide, and with this demand comes numerous new products on the market, including kratom vapes. Vaping is a trend that seems attractive for a number of reasons: ease of use, quick effects and, most importantly, the idea that it is a safer alternative to smoking or other forms of consumption. But when it comes to kratom, vapes are a problematic trend that doesn’t work for several reasons. In this article, we explain why kratom vapes don’t make sense and what risks they entail.

Hype, but unfortunately pointless – Why kratom vapes are a waste of money.

Ingredients are destroyed by heat

The main problem with kratom vapes lies in the fact that the active ingredients of kratom, especially the alkaloids mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, are sensitive to heat. When vaporized, many vapes reach temperatures of over 200 degrees Celsius. This heat is well above the point at which kratom alkaloids remain stable. These high temperatures destroy most of the active ingredients in kratom. This means that much of the kratom is rendered useless even before it leaves the vape.

Dose far too low

Another significant problem is the dosage. Kratom is consumed in relatively high doses (in terms of volume) to achieve the desired color effects. These quantities used are often 2-5 grams of powder or more. Even as an almost pure extract, this still results in a very high amount of powder that needs to be added to the liquid. This in turn means that in order to ingest a comparable amount of active ingredient through a vape, the consumer would have to inhale a disproportionately large amount of kratom liquid.

The volume of kratom extract required will never fit sufficiently into 1-2 ml of liquid, as much more active ingredient is required than for THC, for example.

Vapes are designed for substances that are effective in small doses, such as nicotine or THC. Kratom, on the other hand, requires a significantly larger amount of active ingredient to achieve the desired effects. The limited capacity of a vape pen, especially with disposable vapes with 1-2 ml filling capacity, makes it almost impossible to deliver an effective dose of kratom. If you roughly calculate the whole thing, you come to the conclusion that around 0.5 ml of liquid – i.e. half a vape filling in most cases – would have to be vaporized for one application.

In theory, a kratom vape could work, but only for very few applications and with an enormous amount of vapor that would have to be inhaled. There is also the cost-benefit factor: the amount of liquid required makes the use of kratom vapes inefficient and expensive. Ultimately, it becomes clear that a kratom vape makes little economic or practical sense.

Far too little active ingredient in the liquid

Kratom vapes usually contain a kratom extract that is mixed into a liquid. The problem with this is that manufacturers often find it difficult to integrate a sufficient amount of the active alkaloids into the liquid. The concentration of the extract in the liquid is often so low that it is not sufficient to achieve a noticeable effect.

In addition, the volume of liquid that a vape cartridge or vape tank can hold is severely limited. Even if highly concentrated kratom extract is used, the quantity in the liquid is not sufficient to achieve the required amount for an effect. In order to achieve an effect, you would have to vaporize disproportionately large quantities of liquid, which makes a mockery of the efficiency and purpose of vaping. This makes kratom vapes ineffective and impractical compared to conventional methods of use.

Kratom vapes contain dangerous substances

Another risk of kratom vapes lies in the possible additives used in these products. The active ingredients of kratom are not easily extracted and the production often requires the use of several chemicals. Solvents and other chemical additives are often used to turn kratom into a liquid. These substances can become toxic when heated and have harmful effects on health. In particular, the risk of lung problems increases as the chemicals used for vaporization can enter the sensitive lung tissue.

It is completely unclear what ingredients may be in a kratom vape. Kratom extracts are not easy to produce and require chemicals that should not enter the lungs.

Conclusion – Better to stick with powder

Overall, kratom vapes make no sense due to the heat sensitivity of the alkaloids, the low dose in the liquid and the inherent health risks. Those who want the benefits of kratom should stick to the tried and tested methods. The trend towards kratom vapes may seem tempting, but in reality it carries more risks than benefits. Better to stick to the tried and tested powder, which is effective and safe – and safely ignore the hype surrounding kratom vapes.
